expect the unexpected

er

When we woke up this morning, little did we know what the day had in store for us. My plans included changing Hope’s diaper, having some of my husband’s delicious press pot coffee while spending a few moments with the family on the couch, showering, and rushing out of the door just in time to be late for work; you know, the usual Saturday routine. Well, the day had other plans.

Our poor little Hopers fell off of the couch in just the right way, which caused a spiral fracture in the tibia of her left leg. She will have to wear a splint until we see an orthopaedic doctor on Monday. She is doing remarkably well, all things considered. When we got home from the emergency room, the kids had made cards for her and had set up a pallet on the floor with blankets, books, and all of Hope’s favorite stuffed animals. They also had her favorite show in the dvd player cued up and ready to go. They then sat with her and read books to her and fussed over her. I tell you, those are the times when you think you must be doing something right in this parenting business…. especially after you just watched your baby fall off the couch and break her leg.

We are hoping that she will not be in too much discomfort tonight. We are keeping her dosed up on Motrin, which seems to be helping. Any positive thoughts and energy sent her way for a speedy recovery would be much appreciated.

Wishing you all a peaceful night,

Jennifer

  • all positive thoughts–ALL of them–are on your way!

  • Sweet little Hope. That picture of her and Marlena where Hope has her little arm around her Clifford – so sweet and just broke my heart. I know how hard that has to be to see her injured. I am sending all my positive energy and thoughts her way for quick healing.

  • Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about this :(
Love and healing wishes to all of you!
    XOXO

  • Oh, poor baby! I’m hoping the Motrin works for her til you can get to the doc on Monday. Why is it these things always happen on the weekend?

But then, she looks to be in good little hands!

  • Poor baby! All of you! Hope all goes well at the doctor on Monday. Yell if you need anything at all, ok?

  • Oh NO! I hope she feels better soon and the break heals quickly…

    Blessings!

  • wishing a speedy recovery for the little one!

  • Oh no! Poor little Hope. I have to say though, reading about what your other children did for her almost brought tears to my eyes and my first thought was “THIS is why you have more than one child!” I’m going to read that part to the Mister. :)

  • poor her, well now it’s over. My youngest broke her leg last summer, aged 1 and a half, while running downhill with me holding her hand, i felt so bad, the evening of it happening being horrible, and next day being normal as ever, with her going back to crawling on her four legs… two weeks after removing her cast, my eldest broke a toe, well well, I thought, I’d buy a seasonal ticket at the pediadric hospital…
    hugs to your little ones!
